These grades modify the crystallinity of semi-crystalline polymer resins, accelerating crystallization speed. By providing crystal nuclei and refining crystal grain structure, they improve rigidity, HDT, dimensional stability, transparency and surface gloss.
Your Nucleating Agent Supplier in China
SYCHEM TECH is a nucleating agent supplier based in Shenyang, China, offering sorbitol-based clarifying agents, stiffening (alpha) and toughening (beta) nucleating agents for polypropylene and polyethylene, plus rapid-crystallization nucleators for polyamide. As your formulation development partner, we match the right grade to your resin and goal — higher stiffness and HDT, faster cycle times, glass-clear transparency, or improved toughness — and back every grade with a TDS, COA, and food-contact compliance where required. For background, see the overview of nucleation.
Looking for a reliable nucleating agent supplier with formulation support? Tell us your polymer, target property, and processing method, and our team will recommend a grade and arrange samples. Explore our related processing additives — antioxidants & HALS and lubricants — the parent processing additives hub, and the full functional additives range.
Which type do I need? Use a sorbitol clarifier when transparency matters — food packaging, housewares, and thin-wall containers. Choose an alpha (stiffening) grade to raise rigidity, heat-deflection temperature, and molding throughput in polypropylene; a beta grade to improve impact strength and toughness; and a polyamide grade for faster, more uniform crystallization in PA6 and PA66. Typical addition is only 0.1–0.5%, so a very small dosage delivers a measurable property gain without changing your base resin or process window.
Applications span automotive interior and under-hood parts, rigid and flexible packaging, caps and closures, appliance housings, medical and labware, and fibers and nonwovens. Tell us your polymer, the property you want to move (clarity, stiffness, cycle time, or toughness), your processing method, and any food-contact or regulatory requirement, and our technical team will recommend a starting dosage and a shortlist of grades worth sampling within one business day.

Nucleating agents for polypropylene and other polymers: selection guide
Pick a nucleating agent by the property you want to move, then by the polymer. The table maps each goal to the grades above and the reference dosage from each product page. Dosage is a share of the compound weight, so a few hundred to a few thousand ppm is usually enough.
| Goal | Grade | Type | Reference dosage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Transparent PP: food packaging, housewares, thin-wall containers | NA-98, NA-98G | Third-generation sorbitol clarifier, odour-free | 0.1–0.3% |
| Clear PP that also needs rigidity and HDT | NAP-62 | Substituted aryl phosphate salt | See TDS |
| Stiffer PP and shorter cycle time | NAA-613 / NAA-615, NAA-3 / NAA-325, NAP-50 | Alpha (stiffening) nucleators; NAA-3 / NAA-325 for food packaging | 0.05–0.15% (NAP-50: see TDS) |
| High rigidity and HDT in PP, also PET and PA | NAP-61 | Substituted aryl phosphate salt | 0.05–0.2% |
| Tougher PP with higher impact strength | NAB-82 | Beta (β-crystal) nucleator | See TDS |
| LLDPE blown film: clarity and cycle time | NAE-23 | PE nucleating agent, best added via masterbatch | 0.05–0.2% |
| PA and polyester: faster crystallization, easier mold release | CHB-3C | Raises crystallization temperature | 0.05–0.2% |
Nucleating agent FAQ
What is a nucleating agent?
A nucleating agent is an additive that gives a semi-crystalline polymer, such as polypropylene, polyethylene or polyamide, many small sites where crystals start to grow. The polymer crystallizes earlier and faster into smaller, more uniform spherulites, which raises stiffness and heat deflection temperature, shortens the cooling time in moulding and, with clarifying grades, reduces haze. Read our guide what is a nucleating agent for the mechanism in detail.
What are examples of nucleating agents?
Common nucleating agents for polymers include sorbitol derivatives (clarifiers such as NA-98), aryl phosphate salts (NAP-61, NAP-62), other organic salts (NAP-50), beta nucleators for polypropylene (NAB-82), PE nucleators for LLDPE film (NAE-23) and nucleators for polyamide and polyester (CHB-3C). Fine talc is a low-cost mineral nucleator, but it is far less efficient than these organic grades.
What is the difference between a nucleating agent and a clarifying agent?
Every clarifying agent is a nucleating agent, but not the other way round. A clarifier such as a sorbitol-based grade makes the spherulites in polypropylene so small that they scatter much less light, so the part becomes transparent. A standard stiffening nucleator speeds up crystallization and raises modulus, but the part stays translucent.
Which nucleating agent should I use for polypropylene?
For clear PP, use a sorbitol clarifier such as NA-98 or NA-98G, or NAP-62 when you also need rigidity. For stiffness and shorter cycles in opaque PP, use an alpha nucleator such as NAA-613/615, NAA-3/325 or NAP-50; NAP-61 adds a strong gain in rigidity and HDT. For impact strength, use the beta nucleator NAB-82. See our PP resin range for base grades.
What is a sorbitol nucleating agent?
Sorbitol nucleating agents are sorbitol-derived clarifiers for polypropylene. Third-generation grades such as NA-98 give low haze without the odour of earlier types. NA-98G, the granular form, is added at 0.1–0.3% and processed at about 220–250 °C. They are used in food packaging, housewares and thin-wall containers; ask us for the food-contact declaration for your market.
What is the difference between alpha and beta nucleating agents?
Alpha nucleators produce the usual alpha crystal form of polypropylene and mainly raise stiffness, heat deflection temperature and crystallization speed. Beta nucleators such as NAB-82 produce the beta crystal form, which gives clearly higher impact strength and toughness, with some loss of stiffness. They are used in pipes, automotive parts and other PP parts that must not crack.
Are you a nucleating agent manufacturer or supplier?
SYCHEM TECH is a nucleating agent supplier, not a manufacturer. We source clarifying, alpha, beta and polyamide nucleators from established producers, ship them with a TDS and COA, and help you choose a grade and starting dosage.
