LCY Globalprene SEBS grades by styrene content
LCY Chemical sells its styrenic block copolymers under the Globalprene® brand. The 16 SEBS grades in the table above are hydrogenated styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene polymers. All are linear except 9645D, which is radial. The BD/SM column gives the butadiene-to-styrene ratio of the base polymer, so the second number is the styrene content, and styrene content is the quickest way to shortlist a grade.

How to choose an LCY SEBS grade
- Softness and elasticity: the 13% styrene grades, 9557D and 9645D, give the softest, most elastic compounds and are the usual choice for films, sealants and tacky adhesives.
- General TPE compounding: the 30–33% styrene grades give higher tensile strength and hardness and accept paraffinic oil and PP well. 9550 and 9551 are common starting points.
- PP impact modification: LCY lists 9645D for PP impact toughening and 9526D for impact resistant toughening.
- Medical and personal care: LCY lists 9550, 9550U, 9551, 9551U, 9552, 9552U and 9645D for medical applications. Suitability always depends on the final compound, so ask us for the regulatory documents of the exact grade.
- Asphalt and waterproofing: 7550, 7550U, 7551, 7554, 7554U, 9552 and 9552U.

What is the difference between SEBS and SBS?
SEBS is hydrogenated SBS. The saturated mid-block gives SEBS much better UV, ozone and heat-ageing resistance and lower odour, while SBS costs less and suits indoor or short-life products. Our SEBS vs SBS selection guide compares them in detail, and the LCY SBS grades are listed on their own page.
Is SEBS an alternative to POE for impact modification?
Both toughen polypropylene. POE is usually the more economical impact modifier for automotive TPO, while SEBS also adds a soft, rubbery feel and is common in soft-touch compounds. Compare our POE grades if cost per kilogram is the main driver.
What documents come with each order?
Every shipment comes with a TDS and COA; an SDS is available on request, and for applicable grades we can provide the producer’s REACH and RoHS declarations. Samples are available for qualification trials.
