Flame Retardant

Phosphorus Flame Retardant (HF-80 / HF-90)

PHOSPHORUS-BASED · INTUMESCENT

Halogen-Free Flame Retardants Engineered for Modern Polymer Applications

As a phosphorus flame retardant supplier, Sychem produces phosphorus-nitrogen synergistic flame retardant systems — built on Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) and Piperazine Pyrophosphate (PPAP) chemistry — deliver UL94 V-0 performance with significantly lower smoke density, lower toxicity, and lower part density than traditional halogen / antimony systems. Free from RoHS and REACH restrictions, our HF-80 and HF-90 series serve electrical, automotive, EV battery, wire & cable, and construction markets across more than thirty countries.

Why Phosphorus-Nitrogen Chemistry

Three engineering advantages that explain why P-N intumescent systems are replacing halogen / antimony retardants across global markets

01 / CHAR FORMATION

Intumescent Insulation Layer

On exposure to flame, the system swells into a thick carbonaceous foam that physically insulates the polymer below — interrupting heat and oxygen transfer at the source.

02 / SAFER COMBUSTION

Lower Smoke & Toxicity

Compared to brominated systems, P-N intumescent retardants produce dramatically lower smoke density and zero corrosive halogen acids — critical for cable, transit, and indoor applications.

03 / COMMERCIAL UPSIDE

Lower Density, Lower Cost

Lower specific gravity than mineral or halogen / antimony systems means less weight per part and meaningful cost savings on filled compounds.

HF-90 SERIES · APP-BASED

Ammonium Polyphosphate — Cost-Performance Workhorse

Halogen-free environmentally friendly flame retardant based on Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) with phosphorus-nitrogen synergism. Operates through char formation and intumescent mechanism, delivering UL94 V-0 at 0.75 mm and UL746C 70 °C × 168 h water immersion performance. The established choice for polyolefin flame retardancy.

Compatibility Cautions
AVOID WHERE POSSIBLE
Additive Type Why It Matters
Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃)May reduce intumescent char integrity and FR efficiency
Barium Sulfate (BaSO₄)Heavy filler dilutes active P-N system; adverse on FR rating (HF-90)

Your Phosphorus Flame Retardant Supplier

Phosphorus flame retardant — halogen-free HF-80 and HF-90 P-N intumescent systems from SYCHEM TECH

SYCHEM TECH is a phosphorus flame retardant supplier based in Shenyang, China, offering halogen-free phosphorus-nitrogen (P-N) intumescent systems based on Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) and Piperazine Pyrophosphate (PPAP) — the HF-80 and HF-90 series — for UL94 V-0 PP/PE compounds, glass-fiber PP, TPE/TPU, EV battery components, and engineering thermoplastics. As your formulation development partner, we match the right phosphorus flame retardant grade and loading (typically 20–35%) to your resin and UL target, with low smoke, low toxicity, and good mechanical retention. For background, see the overview of ammonium polyphosphate.

Looking for a reliable phosphorus flame retardant with technical support? Tell us your polymer, target UL94 rating, and processing window, and our team will recommend a grade and arrange samples. Explore the parent flame retardants range, our magnesium hydroxide (MDH), and the full functional additives portfolio.

How much phosphorus flame retardant do I need?
Loading depends on the polymer and UL94 target. Our phosphorus flame retardant grades typically reach UL94 V-0 at 20–35% in PP and PE — lower than mineral systems — so mechanical strength and part density are better retained, with low smoke and low toxicity. Share your resin and target rating and we will confirm the right phosphorus flame retardant grade and loading, then send samples and a TDS.
